Jenny's Story:

Despite growing up within a musical and artistic family, I started my career in international banking and marketing. Whilst I enjoyed the interaction with people, I never felt truly fulfilled and always yearned for something more rewarding and worthwhile.

I started my family later in life. It took a lot of time, effort and money to conceive, but I finally gave birth to my precious son who decided to make an appearance 7 weeks early. Watching him fight for his little life in an incubator throughout Christmas and New Year brought incredible highs, lows and feelings of isolation. So when my baby son was eventually allowed home, I totally immersed myself in ‘Everything Baby’ joining as many mother and baby groups and activities that his tender age would allow.

Around this time I saw an advert for Baby Sensory and this sounded exactly what was needed to enhance my son’s development. As soon as our first class was underway I was hooked and my son was spellbound. I don’t mind admitting that the look of wonderment on his little face brought a tear to my eye! It was a magical experience never to be forgotten. The classes soon began to have a positive impact on my son. Together we were having lots of fun with singing and music, we were bonding, and we were learning to communicate with each other. I always left smiling from ear to ear and armed with a bunch of ideas to continue this development at home. Being a first time mum, I found the chance to network with other parents and grandparents invaluable and my son really enjoyed the socialisation with babies of all ages. The result was a contented and settled baby and a very happy and relaxed mum!

Baby Sensory soon became the highlight of my parenting week. Premature babies develop later than full term babies and all development is measured from their due date (corrected date) and not from their actual birth date. They do not typically catch up with their peers until about 1 year to 18 months old. Imagine my delight to be told at my son's 9 month check up that he was already doing everything that a full term 9 month old should be doing! I was chuffed to bits and felt he was such a wonderful example for what Baby Sensory can achieve! I firmly believe that because the classes were educating me as well as stimulating him, I was learning to be a much better mum and therefore this was key in his rapid development.

I decided not to return to my job at the bank because I wanted to spend more time with my son. Instead I grasped the opportunity of starting my own Baby Sensory classes and I’m thrilled and excited to have brought the delights of Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense to the wonderful babies and children of Essex! We are now taking pre-school education even further and introducing the Mini Professors programme to our suite of products from 2016.

In addition to winning the 'Excellent Customer Service' award at the Southend Business Awards twice, Im also extremely honoured to have reached the finals of the 'Most Outstanding Class Leader for 0-2 years' at the 2011 WhatsOn4 awards. The fact that so many of my parents had taken the time to vote for me, means that all of the hard work has paid off. I LOVE MY JOB!!!

Louise's Story:

I can honestly say that I loved Baby Sensory from the first time I saw a class.

In 2007 my first daughter Libby was born and before long I realised that my whole life had changed.  My maternal instincts were immediate and Libby became my world.  I knew that I had to meet other mums like me, to discuss our babies together.  Baby Sensory wasn’t available in my area then but I found a group of mums and we would meet up weekly to discuss our babies.  I realised that this social interaction was not only important for me but was invaluable for Libby because she would beam from ear to ear every time she saw her little friends.

In 2008 only 19 months later my second daughter Phoebe was born and in 2011 my third daughter Amy came into the world!  I completely embraced every part of being a Mum and enjoyed watching them grow, learn and develop into little ladies.  I realise now that I have all three girls in school, that those early years are by far, the most precious moments you will ever have with your children.

All of my working life has been in retail but I decided after having the girls it was time to find a better work/home balance, and that’s when I discovered Baby Sensory.  My experience with the public in my previous job has given me a fantastic platform to deliver a wonderful experience in class and it is such a pleasure to be sharing my experiences of being a Mum with my parents  at Baby Sensory,  especially those precious early years, where baby’s development is so rapid.

I feel lucky to have an amazing job where I can share precious sensory experiences with parents and baby, whilst at the same time giving parents a wealth of ideas to try at home.  Every week at Baby Sensory is different, you really won’t be able to wait to discover what the next class has in store for you and baby.

I very much look forward to meeting you and sharing new experiences and developments as we go through your first Baby Sensory year.
